Inspired by the story of Ruby Nell Bridges, the first African-American child to attend a school reserved for white pupils in the United States in 1960, this work explores our relationship with memory, justice and collective heritage.
It confronts us with fundamental questions: what do we choose to forget about the injustices of the past? What legacy do we betray when we neglect the struggles for equality and human dignity?
Through this painting, the artist invites us to reflect on the history we choose to pass on to future generations. For our children, it is essential to write a narrative of courage, resilience and hope, where inclusion, understanding and solidarity become the foundations of a fairer world.
