The gaze of others can sometimes create invisible prisons.
In this work, a woman draped in a Muslim veil faces her own reflection. Yet what the mirror reflects is not necessarily who she is. The gaze of others judges, excludes and freezes identities.
My painting, on the other hand, seeks to liberate. It questions imposed perceptions and invites us to rediscover the profound dignity of women.
This work is also a tribute to women, mothers of humanity, bearers of memory, life and hope.
